Sweets a la CART

In honor of the first official week of summer, we’re bringing you sweets a la CART – an ice cream, cookie dough and candie cart that is!

Like a food truck’s little sister, dessert carts are small and sweet and grab all the attention…especially when they roll right up to your summer soiree.

And while carts used to be reserved for formal occasions, 2021 has got their wheels turning in a different direction.

These days people are booking dessert carts for their smaller and more intimate at-home parties as a way to add some extra fun and flare.

They’re so much in demand that the businesses recommend requesting at least 1-2 months out, even more in their busy season (all summer long!).

Plus, where there’s sweets, there’s coffee – so we have the best coffee cart in Westchester represented here too!

What they offer:

Full-service ice cream cart stocked with up to 4 Penny Lick flavors of choice (all nut free!), in addition to hot fudge, sprinkles and whipped cream.

How they roll:

Penny Lick is an on-the-go ice cream pro; in fact they got their start as a cart in 2013, before opening up shop in Hastings 3 years later. The cart holds its temperature so no need for any special accommodations, and their staff will set up and scoop for the duration of your event. They also supply all the bowls, spoons and napkins for a cool, refreshing easy-to-eat treat. But make sure to book early, 2021 has been one of their busiest seasons yet!

Best cart scenario:

According to owner Ellen, an ideal event is one where people are happy and excited to be celebrating again! She sees first-hand how meaningful and personal events have become, and she’s proud that her ice cream cart can be a part…whether it’s for a casual catch up with friends, a neighborhood block party, or even a kid’s backyard birthday turned parent’s night out.

Plus, for those smaller gatherings of 15 people or less, she now offers an “everything but the scoop” party pack, which includes a tote filled with ice cream, toppings and all the supplies (except for the scoop) to create a sundae bar at home.

What they offer:

One-of-a-kind vintage-inspired dessert cart filled with scoopable candy favorites.  There’s also an option to add cupcakes, donuts, cookies, cake pops and other nostalgic sweets to the station.

How they roll:

The Candie Cart is an upscale, portable, one-stop sweet shop, where candy is just the beginning.  Not only can owner Stephanie source any type of candy or confection that you could possibly desire, but get in touch early and she can also create personalized signage, décor and even invites to match.

Best cart scenario:

While they will happily accommodate a last-minute request if available, this cart deserves a party that can be planned a few weeks or even months out, so you can take full advantage of the all their customization and event planning services.

Plus, in the age of 2021, all is flexible and (almost) all is possible; so reach out with your vision and see where this cart can go!

THE DESSERTIST COOKIE DOUGH CART

What they offer:

Edible cookie dough, scooped from a cart!  It gets even better – the dough comes in a variety of flavors like chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and brownie batter, and you also get to choose 3 toppings.

How they roll:

For a minimum of 50 scoops and 1.5 hours, you can have one of the most nostalgic and delicious childhood treats parked on premises, complete with a cart captain and everything needed to serve, eat and enjoy.

The Dessertist’s edible cookie dough has become a sought-after, signature sweet here in Westchester, so the cart really provides guests with an inside scoop!

And there’s more where that came from, literally, because in addition to dough, owner and Chef Samantha makes incredible cookies, cake pops, dessert bars and more than can be baked right in to your celebration.

Best cart scenario:

While traditionally booked for bar mitzvahs and graduations, according to Samantha, in 2021 people are throwing together larger, outdoor parties as an excuse to celebrate anything, so the cart has been getting some new milage in backyards, parks, and other places around town that can safely and spaciously host a crowd.

What they offer:

Gourmet, full-service, mobile espresso bar that serves delicious espresso-based beverages, craft cappuccinos, lattés, teas, cold brews, hot chocolate and more.

They’ve also recently teamed up with Croton-on-Hudson’s Baked by Susan to pair top-of-the-line sweets with their savory sips.

How they roll:

Not only are the espresso guys (and girls!) the nicest, friendliest baristas around, but they have skills and know their stuff.

So much so that they only offer freshly-roasted, sustainably-sourced coffee beans from Abbotsford Road in Brooklyn, froth their own milk, and everything used is 100% biodegradable & compostable.

A 2-hour event includes 2 professional baristas serving specialty coffee drinks on command, from a chic, modern cart with an authentic coffee-shop vibe.

You also get flavored syrups and sweeteners, along with to-go cups, sleeves and stirrers for seamless sipping enjoyment.

Best cart scenario:

These guys are like extended party guests – along with the brew they bring upbeat, friendly, and positive energy too. For those more personal affairs with close family and friends, the cart will fit right in with the gang, and owner Oded will try to accommodate as many get-togethers as his team can handle.

You can also check out his sleek, one-of-a-kind coffee bar truck, which can accommodate larger celebrations for the more and the merrier.
